<PICT:0633046/IV (c)/1> Carpets and other pile fabrics are dyed by passing them continuously through a dye liquor and then through a slot having dimensions equal to the width of the fabric and the thickness of the fabric measured from the back to the surface of the normally standing pile. The slot may be formed of two rollers b and c whose distance apart may be adjusted by a screw, the ends of the slot being closed by tapered segments a, pivoted at e, supported on levers h and pressed inwards against the edge of the carpet by weights d.
