[Class 68 (i)] [Also in Group XXX] Detachably secured to the shovel 1 of a scoop-arm machine is a structure 15, and from the end 18<SP>11</SP> of an extension of the structure 15 there passes a rope 21 to an anchor 22 at the end of an upright 23 so that a parallelogram linkwork is formed, the corners of which are the pivots 3 securing the shovel arm 2 to a structure 4 on the vehicle chassis, the pivots 1 positioning the scoop on the arm 2, and the points 18<SP>11</SP> and 22 so that, whatever position is taken up by the scoop arm, the shovel opening projects forwards. To convert the shovel into a skip there is pivotally mounted on the shovel at 27 a hood, comprising a front plate 24 and side cheeks 25, which normally closes off the bottom portion of the shovel but leaves an opening 28 at the top for charging purposes. To permit discharge, the hood is rotated by a rope, 29 so that the bottom edge of the hood clears the shovel by the desired amount.
