Abstract

632,732. Compressed air systems. HYMATIC ENGINEERING CO., Ltd., HUNT, J. A., HAERLE, H. R., and JAY, J.B. July 23,1947, No. 19720. [Class 8(i)] In a high-pressure compressed air system for aircraft a high-pressure air,compressor 5 is supplied with air from a source of low pressure air 1 through a cooler 2 and a valve 9 which is controlled by the temperature; through a -thermostat 8, and if desired the pressure of the air delivered by the high-pressure compressor or an interstage thereof, by means of a spring-loaded piston 10. The compressor 5 may be driven by, and cooled by the exhaust 20 of; a turbine 18 driven by low-pressure air supplied through valves 13 and 16 controlled by the delivery pressure and speed respectively of the compressor 5. If the compressor is driven by an electric motor the latter is controlled by a pressure switch which stops the motor when the high-pressure air storage pressure 12 exceeds a predetermined maximum.
