Abstract

632,080. Letting-off warps. TRIGGS, W. W. (Crompton & Knowles Loom Works). Oct. 8, 1946, No. 30050. [Class 142 (ii)] A warp beam B is turned by an electric motor M through a reduction gear R and is controlled by an electric circuit containing electronic valves. Some of the warp threads pass through a tension meter T mounted on a whip roll 13. When the warp tension increases, a sweep arm on the tension meter touches a contact and this alters the grid potential of the electronic valves permitting a variation in the speed of the electric motor. This automatic adjustment in the speed of the motor is inoperative when the beat-up takes place. A manually operated switch is provided by which the electric motor may be operated when the loom is at rest.
