Abstract
1,081,060. Terry looms. DRAPER CORPORATION. Dec. 28, 1965 [Dec. 28, 1964], No. 54993/65. Heading D1E. A terry loom has a perforated tape mechanism which allows the selective weaving of plain terry or "pinched pick" weaving i.e. plain weaving with the take-up discontinued. The pattern drum 24 has axial grooves 18 is intermittently rotated by a Geneva mechanism and cooperates with pairs of sensing levers 32 so that, when a hole is felt, a lever 32 is moved longitudinally into the range of movement of a knife 37 and is pivoted about a shaft 33 pivoting of a lever 32 causes a further level 46 to be pivoted and locked into its pivoted position by a pawl 50 which is releasable by the other lever 32 of the pair to allow the return of the selected lever 46. Three of the levers 46 operate respectively, a device which permits the terry warp to be let off only under tension for plan weaving a mechanism to discontinue takeup for "pinch" weaving and the mechanism controlling the reed producing the terry weave.
