Abstract

1,164,848. Shuttleless loom. NORTH AMERICAN ROCKWELL CORP. 31 Oct., 1966 [1 Nov., 1965], No. 48787/66. Heading D1E. In a shuttleless loom for weaving fabric having weft omitted at intervals, e.g. to form warp fringes between successive terry towels, a control mechanism employing a perforated tape puts out of action the weft stop motion and the weft presenter which depresses the weft into the path of the weft inserting needle. The fringe is thereby produced without interrupting the drive of the weft inserters or the cloth take-up. The weft inserters may be mounted on flexible tapes as described in Specification 693485, and the control mechanism may be as described in Specification 1081060.
