Abstract

632,077. Pneumatic separating. RUEPP, T. Dec. 12, 1945, No. 33633. [Class 117] Finely-divided materials to be screened are fed from a shoot into rough-dressing chambers 3, Figs. 1 and 2, which are separated by partitions from chambers 10 with inclined bases. Air at high velocity flows up through the chambers 3 carrying the lighter particles into an expansion chamber 7, where some of the lighter particles separate out, being collected in the chambers 10. They are discharged through an outlet 11. In a modification shown in Fig. 3 the rough-dressing chambers 14 are caused to vibrate by means of an unbalanced rotating shaft 23. The chambers 14 have inclined base plates 15 formed with perforations much larger than would pass the coarsest grains and through which air is blown upwardly. The coarsest grains fall through the perforations and the lighter particles are carried up to the expansion chamber when some particles separate out and are collected in chambers provided with inclined plates 17 for discharge through shoots 16. Each of these shoots terminates in a point to distribute the particles over the entire area of a chamber 18 from which finer particles are carried by an air current through an outlet 19.
