Abstract

631,867. Shoots for cereal mills. HUTCHINS, C. A., and HOVIS, Ltd. Jan. 23, 1946, No. 2248. [Class 78 (i)] [Also in Group XXVIII] A cereal mill is provided with a system of connecting shoots for freely flowing material from mill units of one stage to mill units of succeeding stages of treatment, the system comprising tubes 12 - 24 of metal or plastic which form the main lengths of the system, junctions or unions (see Group XXVIII) to fit the tubes together with flush internal surfaces free from ledges or pockets in which cereal could collect, and junction fittings 29, 30 on the mill units 25, 26, to receive the ends of the tubes. The tubes are preferably straight and cylindrical. The fittings 29, 30 also provide flush internal joints with the tubes. Two of the joints, for straight coaxial tubes are shown in Fig. 4, a rib 37 being provided in each of the union sleeves 35, 38 and forming an abutment for the tubes. Specification 100,802, [Class 78 (i)], is referred to.
