Abstract
725,691. Scaffold connections.. JESPERSEN, S. KERRN-. Feb. 16, 1953 [Feb. 29, 1952], No. 4262/53. Class 20 (2). Scaffold tubes are connected at each junction by a pair of coupling members, each comprising a cylindrical spigot 3, Fig. 1, and a pair of opposed semi-cylindrical spigots 2 at right angles to the spigot 3 and having diametrical faces disposed at 45 degrees to the axis of the spigot 3. The cylindrical spigot 3 is engaged in a horizontal scaffold tube 6, Figs. 2 and 3, and is secured by a cotter 7 passed through a bore 5. A pair of coupling members are placed with the diametrical faces of the spigots 2 in contact so that the scaffold tubes 6 on the spigots 3 are in alignment, Fig. 2, or are at right angles to each other, Fig. 3, and the vertical scaffold tubes are placed over the paired spigots 2 and secured by cotters 7 passed through holes 4. In Fig. 4 (not shown) the diametrical plane of the semicylindrical spigots is at an angle to the axis of the spigot 3 such that the horizontal scaffold tubes may be disposed at angles other than 90 degrees to each other.
