Abstract
631,648. Conveyers. VICARS, Ltd., T. & T., and NAYLOR, J. F. Dec. 3, 1947, No. 31910. [Class 78 (i)] A stripping device for removing biscuits or like flat articles from the surface of a drum or conveyer belt, consists of a plurality of spaced fingers the outer ends of which are in contact with or closely adjacent to the surface of a drum or lapped-over-end of an endless conveyer belt, web or chain, the outer ends of these fingers being widened or flattened so as to occupy substantially completely the whole width of the surface to be stripped. The fingers comprise spring steel bars 1 which are clamped in a holder 2 by means of a clamping plate 3 cranked round and welded to a pivot bar 4 and extend downwardly so that the free ends 5 are held elastically in contact with the surface of the conveying band 6 which carries the articles 7 which slide up the fingers and are transferred on to the conveyer or chute 8 any residue dropping between the bars. The outer ends 9 of the bars are each tapered and flattened to conform to the width of the surface to be stripped. In a modification for woven belts the fingers are welded to short cross bars and the flattened end is common to two or more fingers.
