[Class 79 (v)] In a delivery vehicle as described in the parent Specification having a single control member which operates the vehicle brakes and through a throttle control a centrifugal clutch, a lever movable with the control member is coupled through a lost motion connection to a spring- loaded platform for the operator so that the platform must be rocked against the spring before the control member can be moved from its brake applying position with consequent automatic return to that position if the force acting on the platform ceases. As shown the brakes on the wheel 3 can be applied by anticlockwise rotation, as seen in Fig. 2, of the control member 13, a protuberance on the member engaging a radial arm 11 freely mounted on a torque tube 12 and connected by a rod 9 to the brake, and a complementary control member 16 at the other end of the tube 12 similarly operates the brake on the wheel 3. The lever 24 is shown integral with the tube 12 but may be integral with one of the control members and is connected by a cable 23 to a two-armed lever 21 which is connected to the spring 25 at that end, is pivoted to a vehicle frame member and connected at the other end to the platform 17 which is hinged at 19 to a vehicle frame member 20. As the operator leaves the platform it pivots under the action of the spring 25 which tensions the cable 23, turns the arm 24 to apply the brakes on the wheels 2, 3. When the operator stands on the platform it turns about the hinge 19 against the action of the spring 25 and slackens the cable 23 thus releasing the brakes and the control members 13, 16. The vehicle can be provided with an operator's seat with the platform operated by the operator's leg. Specifications 594,630 and 631,638 also are referred to.
