Abstract
A saponaceous composition for use in hard water comprises a major proportion of a watersoluble soap and a minor proportion of a salt of a higher fatty acid ester of a lower sulphocarboxylic acid amide of an alkanol nontertiary amine sufficient to disperse lime soap in hard water. These non-soapy detergents are derived from those known as "Emco" (Registered Trade Mark) type detergents and particular compounds specified comprise potassium lauric "Emco," sodium lauric "Emco," potassium myristic "Emco," sodium myristic "Emco," triethanolamine lauric "Emco," and triethylamine palmitic "Emco." The "Emco" detergent may also be made from the mixed fatty acids of coconut oil. The usual soaps may be used such as the sodium, potassium, watersoluble organic base and ammonium soaps of the higher fatty acids of ten to eighteen carbon atoms in the molecule. The compositions may be prepared in any of the conventional soap forms, cakes, flakes, shreds, granules, pearls, powder, creams, pastes, or solutions. Floating products may be made by aeration with air or other compatible gas. U.S.A. Specification 2,184,770 is referred to.
