Abstract
631,335. Casting buildings in situ. WHATLING, J. L. Jan. 21, 1947, No. 1883. [Class 20(ii)] Concrete walls of a building are cast in situ as side-by-side box-like units, the spaces between which are covered by means of pre-cast T-section columns 14. The walls of a terrace of houses have cavity walls 1-4 and the columns 14 are held in position by bolts having eyes pivoted on pins mounted transversely in the partition walls. The cavities of the partition walls 4 are bridged by resilient ties consisting of channel irons 12, Fig. 3, embedded in the opposed walls and connected by spring steel hoops 13. The shuttering 29, Fig. 10, is supported by vertical battens 30, top and bottom horizontal rails 31 and bolts 33 passing through the rails and carrying concrete spacing tubes 35. The cavity shuttering 36 is separated by distance bars 38. The space between the units is formed by a strip 39. The walls are cast section above section or by sections from one end to the other.
