631,219. Dry contact rectifiers. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. Sept. 5, 1947, No. 24503. Convention date, Oct. 26, 1946. [Class 37] A dry contact metal rectifier comprises a base electrode 11, 26, a layer of semiconducting material 12, 27 applied to the base but leaving a portion of the base uncoated, and a layer of counter - electrode material 13, 28 applied to substantially the whole of the semiconducting layer such that the entire boundary edge of the semi-conducting layer is left uncoated. Terminal leads are joined to the uncoated portion of the base and to the counterelectrode material. Various configurations using rod, sheet and wire-like base materials are described.
