Abstract
630,648. Hairbrushes; stocks. RICHE, S. July 14, 1947, No. 18665. [Class 19] A hairbrush has the bristles or equivalent filaments 1, which are of equal length, arranged on a stock or base 2 in which the mounting bed is of concave form in one direction only so that the effective brushing surface 3 at the tips of the bristles forms a partly cylindrical concavity thus facilitating its accommodation to the curvature of the head. If the stock is longer in one direction than the other, e.g. oval or oblong, the axis of the concave curve may run transversely or longitudinally and preferably the former as shown. According to the Provisional Specification, a hairbrush is constructed with its bristles so cut or arranged that the central area is depressed in relation to the outer area and an embodiment is described in which the bristles on a flat-surfaced base or stock are cut in unequal lengths so that the upper brushing surface is a substantially partly cylindrical concavity. The hairbrushes may or may not have handles.
