[Class 146 (i)] Loose-leaf binding means comprises the combination of a flexible binder strip and a locking plate 8 having a slot 9 for the strip and a pair of spring tongues 11 angularly offset from the plane of the plate and which engage opposite edges of the strip; the slot and tongues being arranged so that the plate is incapable of lateral movement relative to the strip. The width of the slot 9 is such that lateral movement is prevented, or notches 12 may be provided in the tongues 11 which engage the edges of the binder strip. In modifications, the spring tongues may be formed as extensions of the plate bent over to the required angle or the plate is formed with side edge gaps and a strip encompasses the plate by way of the gaps, the ends of the strip providing the spring tongues and the strip being formed with a slot to correspond to the slot 9 for the binder strip. The plate in the latter case may be of mild steel and the strip only of spring steel The edges of the binder strip may be notched. A single locking plate may have several pairs of tongues associated therewith.
