Abstract
498,961. Loose-leaf binders. HANNA, A. N. March 25, 1938, No. 9210. Convention date, July 17, 1937. [Class 146 (i)] In binders of the type in which mating half-rings 11, 16 are formed on the edges of two strips 10, 15, which are connected at one end by a pivot 20, the lower or base strip 10, which is secured to the back of the binder, has formed integrally therewith a number of tongues 13, which are shorter than the width of the strip and are spaced therefrom, so that the movable strip, when closed, fits closely between the base strip and the tongues, and relative movement of the strips is prevented. Locking means for the strips are provided at the end remote from the pivot, and may consist of a sliding plate 23 having a projecting lug 26, which is adapted to enter a socket 21 in the fixed strip. A bevel 22 pushes the locking-plate outwards, so as to avoid obstruction. The rings are of arched form in cross-section, so as to provide stiffening- ribs 12.
