Abstract
630,461. Rotary engines or compressors. KATONA, J. June 19, 1947, No. 16259. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, May 24, 1948] [Class 110(ii)] The engine or compressor has pairs of pistons 1, 2; 3, 4 moving around a working- chamber 5, being respectively coupled to arms 16, 15 which are given relative accelerating and decelerating motions by means of a double-cranked shaft 29. A gear 9, on the shaft 29, meshes with a fixed wheel 8. The latter may have its position adjusted by a handle 25 to adjust the admission and exhaust port characteristics. For an internal-combustion engine, two-stroke or four-stroke, working-fluid is admitted through a port 6, fired by a plug 19 and exhausted through a port 7. Scavenging air, or fresh mixture, is sucked through an inlet 21 before the end of port 7 is shut off. Steam may be used as a working- fluid.
