Abstract
629,265. Cases for cigarettes &c. ASPREY & CO., Ltd., and ASPREY, E. A. Aug. 7, 1946, No. 23457. [Class 18] A cigarette case, powder compact or like container comprises a base 1 and a lid 2, the lid 2 being pivotally mounted on trunnion blocks 9 which are slidably secured to the base, the sliding action releasing a catch to permit the lid to open. The blocks 9 slide in hollow sides 6 attached to the base, the inner faces of the members 6 having slots 16 to accommodate pins 13 about which the lid is hinged. The ends of the members 6 at the front of the case have cut-out recesses 17 in which lugs 18, on the lid, fit to close the case. In assembling, the blocks 9 are passed completely into the members 6, the open ends of which are closed by pieces 22. The case is opened by sliding the lid forward to clear the lugs 18 of recesses 17 and then hinging it back. The lid lies flush with the sides 6 when closed.
