Abstract

Barrel and cylindrical hinges.-In a cigarette case or other receptacle comprising two hinged members which are slid relatively to each other to release the catch or catches holding them together and in which one part a of the sliding hinged connection is in the form of an undercut groove a<1> receiving a correspondingly-shaped projection c<2> on the other part c, means are provided to limit the relative movement of the parts so that in the open position the end of the part c does not move past the'inner edge f of the flap or member b carrying the part a; by this means no free space is left on the inside of the case in which tobacco dust &c. can collect and interfere with the working of the hinged connection a, c. A pin in the part c may engage a slot in the part a to limit the movement or the ends of the groove may be filled in and the projection made shorter than the groove. The project,ion and groove are preferably of dovetail cross-section but they may be of circular crosssection.
