628,976. Motor driving arrangements. PARMILLEUX, J. Aug. 27, 1946, No. 25679. Convention date, March 12, 1942. [Class 35] A portable power unit for driving a variety of tools &c comprises a motor 1 coupled through a long shaft 6 to a worm reduction gear 12, 13 having coupling means for driving various loads, supporting devices being provided on the motor and gear-casing to support the unit when in use. The shaft 6 is enclosed in a watertight tube 8 secured to the motor end-cover 3 and the gear-casing 11. As shown, the wormgear 13 has a split driving-spindle 15 extending from its shaft and the gear 12 has a square aperture 18 for lower speed drives.. A further drive can be taken from the free end of the motor shaft. The gear-casing is provided with lugs. 19 for securing a removable work-carrier, and skids or castors 2, 25 support the unit when in use.
