Abstract

628,122. Motor mountings. TRIGGS, W. W. (Yale & Towne Manufacturing Co.). Aug. 9, 1946. No. 23698. [Classes 79 (iii), 79 (iv) and 79 (v)] In an industrial truck having a main frame 10, a traction unit T comprising a motor 15, a clutch and gear box 16, and an axle drive unit 14 having axles A for the driving wheels, the front portion of the traction unit is pivoted on shafts 13 supported on opposite sides of the main frame, the axis of the shafts 13 being spaced from the axis of the axles A and means are provided for securing the traction unit to the main frame at a point displaced from the shafts 13 for resisting drive torque reaction. As shown the truck has a pair of uprights 50 tiltably mounted on the axle unit at 52 so as to balance the weight of the motor. The uprights are hydraulically operated and have a movable carriage 54. Also mounted on the axle unit are the shafts 13 rotatable in bearings 12 on the frame 10, Fig. 4, which has pads 40 interconnected by a bar 42. A stud 43 interconnects each pad 40 with a block 36 by a rubber sleeve 39 carried by a sleeve 38 within a bore on the block 36. Each block 36 is secured by bolts 37 to a longitudinal equalizer bar 30 of springy construction. The bars 30a are interconnected by saddles 31, 32 to which is secured the traction unit T. The non-driven wheels 21 are steered from a steering wheel and column 22 through a two-part track rod 20. U.S.A. Specification 2,207,688 is referred to.
