Abstract

Potassium fluozirconates corresponding to any desired KF : ZrF4 molecular ratio between 1 and 2.5 are obtained by reacting together potassium chloride and aqueous hydrofluoric acid solutions of zirconium fluoride, in proportions ranging from 1 to 3 moles of potassium chloride and at least one mole. of hydrofluoric acid to one mole. of zirconium fluoride. The potassium chloride is preferably used as a cold concentrated solution which is added gradually to the hydrofluoric acid solution of zirconium fluoride.
