Abstract
627,725. Prepayment mechanism for meters. BEGWACO METERS, Ltd., and BUTTERWORTH, E. Nov. 20, 1946, No. 34443. [Class 27] Limiting amount prepayable. A lever, brought into the path of the rotary coin holder when the maximum prepayment has been reached to prevent return of the coin holder to its coin receiving position, is adapted, by yielding, to allow the coin holder still to be moved in the forward direction to discharge a coin therein. The lever u pivots at t (Fig. 4) on a bracket s secured to a spindle r, a spring x holding the lever up to a fixed stop z. Spindle r also carries a geneva quadrant n (Fig. 3), which is engaged by a driver k on the valve actuating cam f when, as shown, the prepayment limit is being approached. Further prepayment (anti-clockwise rotation of cam f) then causes clockwise rotation of spindle r and this brings the tip w of lever u up into the path of the coin holder a which cannot then be turned back to the coin receiving position. Anti-clockwise movement of the coin holder to discharge the coin is, however, permitted by the lever then turning on its pivot t and against the spring x. The valve cam f is that described in Specification 619,026.
