Abstract
627,718. Linkage joints. THOMPSON PRODUCTS, Inc. Oct. 21, 1946, No. 31198. Convention date, March 4. [Class 65 (ii)] [Also in Group XXXI] Relates to a vehicle steering linkage (see Group XXXI) in which a joint interconnects a cross-link 21 with an idler arm 23 and accommodates rotative movements only, and another joint interconnects the cross-link 21 with a pitman arm 22 and accommodates rotative and tilting movements. The idler arm 23 receives at its forward end the tapered shank 50 of a pin 47 having a tapered head 48. The head 48 engages a corresponding socket 45 in the link 21 and is held in position by a spring-urged disc 55 engaging a button 56 on the pin 47. A pin 32 is similarly connected to the pitman arm 22 but has a fragmentary spherical head 33 engaging a corresponding socket 30 on the link 21, the head being held in position by a similar spring-urged disc 39 bearing on a button 41 on the pin 32.
