Abstract

627,611. Diaphragm fuel pumps. SOC. ANON. SOLEX. Dec. 10, 1946, No. 36422. Convention date, Dec. 18, 1945. [Class 102 (i)] A fuel pump comprises two diaphragms 16, 18, the smaller 16 performing the function of a pump to lift fuel from the tank 9 to the chamber 5 and being connected to the larger diaphragm 18 which is loaded by a spring 23 and exposed to the pressure in the chamber 29 which is connected to the induction pipe 22 of the engine. A lever 30 is provided for manual actuation. A second spring may be provided within the spring 23 and arranged to resist the movement of the diaphragm after it has moved a certain distance against the action of spring 23. Fig. 3 shows an arrangement wherein the space between the diaphragms 16, 18 is used as the pumping chamber; the knob 35 is provided for manual actuation.
