Abstract

626,786. Valve generating circuits. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd., COOPER, A. Y., and McALLAN, J. G. May 13, 1947, No. 12892. [Class 40 (vi)] A resistance-capacitance oscillator has a first thermistor for stabilizing the amplitude of the oscillations and a second thermistor for compensating for changes in amplitude due to changes in ambient temperature of the first thermistor. The Figure shows an oscillator of the type described in Specification 575,395, comprising valves 1 and 2 having a resistance capacitance positive feed-back path 33, 34, 35, 36 and an amplitude stabilizing negative feed-back path through thermistor 3. The oscillator is followed by a two-stage amplifier 4, 5, the output current of which flows through the output transformer 41 and through a resistance network in the cathode circuit of valve 4 producing negative feed-back. This network includes a thermistor 6 operated at low temperature and arranged such that variations in ambient temperature which vary the amplitude at which thermistor stabilizes are compensated by changes in negative feedback due to similar variations in the ambient temperature of thermistor 6. It is suggested that the second thermistor need not be in a feed-back path and that the compensating network may include further thermistors.
