Abstract

626,562. Ground rippers. CATERPILLAR TRACTOR CO. June 3, 1947, No. 14645. Convention date, July 26, 1946. [Class 6(i)] [Also in Group X] A ground ripper comprises a body having compartments 22 for ballast. Hollow sockets 25 extend through the compartments for teeth 11 which are fixed in position by pins 26. A wheeled chassis is pivoted on the body and its position is controlled by a cable 21 attached to a winch on the towing vehicle. Teeth not in use are mounted on top of the body to provide extra ballast and held by pins 29. A lug 32 at the rear allows the ripper to be pushed by a tractor or bulldozer.
