624,745. Threshing - machines. EDDY, F. M. April 9, 1947, No. 9479. [Class 58] A feeding device for a threshing machine comprises a substantially rectangular box-like receiving member 14 open at the top and bottom and mounted above an opening 13 to the drum 10 of a threshing machine, a cutting blade 17, carried by a bar 16 in or on the receiving member in substantially the longitudinal mid-plane of the latter, being driven by a belt 25 from a pulley 26 on the drum shaft to a pulley 24, mounted on a crankshaft 22 which supports the bar 16, to reciprocate the blade and sever the binding of a sheaf of corn placed in the receiving member with the straw parallel to the longer side thereof. In an alternative ararngement, Fig. 3 (not shown), a vertical rotary knife is employed driven from the rotation of the drum through a system of gears.
