Abstract
624,419. Two-part couplings. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and RYCROFT, J. L. Nov. 28, 1945, No. 32135. [Class 38 (i)] [Also in Group XI] A metal terminal plug 14 is connected to a sheathed wire heating resistance 7 cast in the base 6 of a metal pot by soldering the brass plug 14 to an inner metal tube 10 sealed by a glass annulus 13 to a metal tube 12 brazed over the end 8 of the element 7. The wire 11 of the element is soldered with a copper wedge 15 in the tube 10, the end of which is sealed with soft solder 16. The tubes 10, 12 may be of copper, soft iron or an alloy of nickel, cobalt and iron. The terminal may be formed of two coaxial tubes, one forming the plug and the other sealed at one end with glass to the plug and enlarged and soldered at the other end to the sheath. The ends of the element may terminate in a common sealing chamber from which the wires 11 pass through an insulated closure member, e.g. of glass, and are soldered to sealed metal tubes 10 therein.
