[Class 140] A wallpaper or decorative covering for articles of furniture comprises a flexible sheet material such as paper having a decorative 'pattern applied, as by printing, to one side, and overcoated with a transparent, waterproof material, the other side being coated with a thermoplastic adhesive to permit securing of the wallpaper &c. to, or its removal from, a wall, by applying heat. The adhesive may be a natural or synthetic resin such as rosin, an acrylic resin, vinyl resins including polyvinyl alcohol, polyvinyl acetal and polystyrene, and vinylidene chloride resin. The transparent waterproof material applied over the patterned surface may be casein or resin lacquer. The heat for rendering the adhesive plastic may be applied by electric flat-irons or infra-red ray lamps.
