Abstract

1495485 Foam coated sheets TOKIWA LEATHER INDUSTRIAL CO Ltd 4 June 1976 [18 June 1975] 23136/76 Heading B2E A decorative sheet having an embossed pattern thereon is prepared by coating a base sheet of paper fabric or non woven fabric with a paste comprising a synthetic resin, e.g. polyvinyl chloride, a plasticiser, a blowing agent, a stabiliser, a pigment and a colouring agent and drying by heating, e.g. at 150‹C. Then the coating layer is foamed, e.g. by heating at 200‹C, uniformly pressed and cooled to smooth and temporarily solidify the foamed layer and the surface of the foamed layer is heated, e.g. to 120‹C, before hot embossing. A coating composition comprising a colouring agent, a synthetic resin and a plasticiser may be applied to the depressed bottom surface of the pattern to be formed by embossing. Other synthetic resins which may form the foamed layer include polyvinylidene chloride and polyvinyl acetate.
