Abstract
622,891. Casings for dynamo - - electric machines. ROTAX, Ltd., and HUGHES, C. K. April 16, 1947, No. 10067. [Class 35] The stator of a dynamo-electric machine comprises a cylindrical sheet-metal body-part 1 with one end 2 wholly or partly closed and supporting a bearing-housing 3, and an assembly of laminations 8 in a sheet-metal sleeve 10 fitting closely within the body part, the open end of the body being closed by an end cover 24 attached to the rotor unit. The core 8 is secured in the body by baked varnish. The end cover 24 has a bearing housing 25 in which a ball-race 21 is axially secured between a spacer 26 and a flanged mounting member 28 which is fixed to the end cover. The ball-race is secured to the shaft by means of split-ring 23. In a modified form, the ball-races are replaced by self-centring plain bearings located by an axially-acting spring. The end cover 24 may be square and the corners may be riveted. or bolted to brackets (not shown) forming part of a ring 29 secured to the body 1.
