Abstract
622,693. Partly-magnetic switches. SLADE. H. G. Dec. 31, 1946, No. 38107. [Class 38(v)] A switch is given a quick-action by the cooperation of one or more armatures mounted on a manuallyoperated slider with one or more magnets, one at least of the armatures serving also to bridge two fixed contacts. In the form shown in Figs. 1 and 4, a slider 21, which is operated by a knob 28 carries two armatures 22, 23 as well as a magnet 30 which slides between and magnetizes two pole pieces 12, 13. Insulated by strips of mica 17, 18 from the pole pieces are two contacts 15, 16 of magnetic material. The armatures 22, 23 co-operate respectively with the contacts 15, 16 and the lower ends of the pole pieces 12, 13. In modifications. contacts are provided at both ends and the slider is operated by a pair of push rods projecting through the cover. The magnet is also fixed to the base. In another modification, Figs. 9, 10, (not shown), the slider carries a single armature which cooperates with two fixed horse-shoe magnets.
