Abstract

622,526. Work benches. COLLING, G., and MAIDSTONE & DISTRICT MOTOR SERVICES, Ltd. March 19, 1947, No. 7528. [Class 61(ii)] A work stand particularly for multicylinder internal combustion engines comprises supporting trestles or end frames and a platform i upon which the work b is bolted as at b' and circular T-section tracks f supporting the platform and rigidly secured to the ends thereof. The webs of the tracks f are each rotatably supported on a pair of rollers c mounted on each of the trestles a between a pair of angle irons e, the tracks dipping down between their respective rollers. One of the webs has spaced holes f<SP>1</SP> for latching the track in any desired angular position by a pin g sliding through aligned holes in the angle irons e and controlled by a pedal h. The platform i is recessed at i<SP>2</SP> and apertured to allow the valves to be extracted. A board is kept in position by a detachable clip j<SP>1</SP> and studs j<SP>2</SP> and retains the valves after removal of their springs and cotters. A spring compression gear to facilitate the removal and fitting of the valve cups, cotters, etc. is slidably anchored to the bar l and comprises a slotted lever o, the hooked end of which engages the upper end n<SP>1</SP> of a metal strap, the looped lower end of which is universally jointed to the anchor bar l.
