Abstract

622,331. Reels for fabrics &c. MELLOR, BROMLEY, & CO., Ltd., and SWINDALL, J. L. March 10, 1947, No. 6617. [Class 34(i)] In winches employed in dyeing &c. machines of the kind provided with spaced longitudinal staves the staves are braced by members interposed between and secured to the staves. As shown the staves 9 are of channel form and are braced by longitudinal sheet metal members 10 secured, by welding, to the staves by means of flanges 12. The members 10 may be ridged as shown at 11 and they or the staves 9 or both are welded to end discs 7 which are secured to flanged plugs 2 which fit into the ends of a driving central tube or shaft 1. Trunnions 3 are secured to the plugs 2, the whole forming a hollow drum. Pressure relieving means may be provided comprising an aperture surrounded by a sleeve 12 which is covered by a cap 14 having a series of breathing apertures.
