Abstract
621,870. Apparatus for casting concrete tiles &c. MORRIS, F. J., BIEGER, R. W., and MACDONALD, C. A. (trading as MORRIS MANUFACTURING CO.). June 20, 1946, No. 18611. Convention date, June 20, 1945. [Class 87 (ii)] A mixer 7, Fig. 1, is mounted on a frame to discharge concrete into a box 17 for transfer to a mould 27 which is supported on a platform 46 independently of the mixer and box, the platform and mould being vibrated and springs 36, 37, 41, Fig. 2, being interposed between the. platform 46 and the frame to insulate the box 17 from vibration. The box has side wall extensions 26 having inturned flanges on their lower edges. The concrete is drawn from the box by means of a transverse screeding plate 91 having handles 92. The platform 46 supporting the mould 27 immediately below but out of contact with the flanged extensions 26, is carried by a pair of spring steel strips 41 mounted through holes on uprights 32 of the frame and resiliently supported by the springs 36, 37. The mould 27 is positioned and clamped against the platform 46 by means of sprung pivoted levers 51 notched as at 56 and held against lateral handles 54 extending from the sides of the mould. The mould is released from the levers 51 by a chain connected to a manually operated pedal 61, Fig. 1. Vibration is effected, by means of an eccentrically mounted shaft journalled at each end on a flange 66 provided on each side of the platform and rotated by an electric motor mounted on the under surface of the box 17.
