[Class 17 (iii)] A visible indication is made on the toes of a foo inserted in footwear, 10 especially for children when the toes extend for wards into a portion of the shoe where continued wear may result in foot deforma tion. The indication may result from one spot 14 of marking substance placed to mark the big toe on the inside of the shoe on the insole or the lining or one spot may be provided, as shown, for each toe, or the whole of the danger area may be treated to give a visible mark. The marking substance, which may be recessed into the sole or applied on the surface, may be of chalk, substances used in backing duplicating paper or releasable dye substances. A safety area extending forward to the edge of the danger area may be treated to give an indication of a different colour, e.g. green instead of red for the danger area.
