Abstract

620,683. Suction cleaners. HOOVER, Ltd. May 2, 1946, No. 13289. Convention date, June 23, 1945. [Class 8(i)] A suction cleaner of the type comprising an elongated body 10 containing a filter and suction unit and adapted to lie horizontally on the floor is provided with a support e.g., a bar 22 mounted on the body and projecting a substantial height above it to carry a portion of the suction hose 16 when the latter is not in use. The hose is carried between forks 35 which in the lowered position of the bar flank a lug 36 carrying a pedal-released spring-pressed plunger 38 engaging a catch 37, thus enabling the bar 22 to serve as a cleaner body handle. The lower end of the bar is pivoted to a lug 26 and carries an upwardly acting biasing spring. A resilient plunger in the lug 26 screws on engagement with a recess in the bar to assist in maintaining the same in the hose supporting position.
