Abstract
620,649. Hay loaders. LAYTON, D. A. Jan. 27, 1947, No. 2410. [Class 6(iii)] [Also in Group XXX] Apparatus for handling or loading hay and the like of the type mounted on a powerdriven vehicle with the implement proper being mounted in front of the tractor and on the ends of elongated supports pivotally attached at or near its rear end and which are hydraulically operated, has the supports in the form of arms 9 which are suspended from one relatively movable member of a hydraulic ram 23, another relatively movable member of which is pivotally mounted 21 in front of the vehicle, approximately centrally between the two said arms, on a support which is rigidly attached to the vehicle so that the lifting force of the said ram is applied as near as possible to the centre of weight of the implement when loaded. The implement frame 12 is pivoted to the free ends of the arms 9 and held in position by a spring-loaded bolt 14 co-operating with a plate 15; it is disengaged by actuating a lever 16. A tubular member 25 connects the ram to the supporting arms, and the hydraulic power can be supplied to the ram through a ball end 22. The fork illustrated may be replaced by other implements.
