Abstract

620,041. Induction heating. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd., BARNARD, R. M., and TOMLIN, A. W. April 16, 1946, No. 11673. [Class 39(iii)] Metal foil coated with an insulating film, of the type employed in condenser manufacture, is heated by eddy currents set up in the foil by the field of a heating coil C after leaving the coating bath B, to vaporize the solvents contained in the coating. The action of the heat supplied by the metal foil is to dry the coating from the inside first and so avoid the formation of bubbles in the film. Two separate foils may be similarly treated on either side of the heating coil.
