Abstract
619,869. Kinematograph projectors. BECOTE, A. April 3, 1946, No. 10323. Convention date. Dec. 23, 1943. [Class 97 (i)] In a continuous feed projector a reduced image of the film frame is formed by a divergent lens and optically compensated by a reciprocating lens. As shown diagrammatically in Fig. 1, two frames a, b of the film 3 are accommodated in the gate 4 illuminated by a light source 1 with condenser 2 and shutter 5. Reduced virtual images a<1>, bl of the film frames are produced by the divergent lens 6 and a reciprocating lens 7 provides optical compensation, 8 is the projection lens and 9 a mask to ensure that only one frame is projected. The lens 8 may be dispensed with and its function performed by the lens 7. Alternatively, the lens 7 may be stationary and the lens 6 reciprocate for image compensation. A device for reciprocating the compensating lens is shown in Fig. 4. The lens 7 is carried in a support 13 slidable in vertical guides 14. The support 13 is engaged by the end of a lever 10 pivoted at 12 and carrying a roller 17 whose pivot is adjustable in a slot 15. The roller is engaged by a rotating cam 18 whose axis is adjustable in a slot 19 in the framework. In another form the oscillating lever is disposed in a plane parallel to the optical axis and the compensating lens is secured directly to it.
