[Class 83 (iv)] [Also in Group XXXVII] A ring 13 of copper or aluminium or other metal is mounted on the core 11 of an electromagnetic relay by slipping it over the enlarged polepiece 12 and then compressing it inwards till it fits the core closely as shown in Fig. 2. The pressing may be effected by the movement of several radial jaws 16 operating between walls 14, 15, jaws and walls being finally removed. In the method shown in Fig. 3, a jaw 35 fixed to the ram of a press is adapted to push the ring 33 through a tapering die-ring 34 in order to compress it on to the core 31.
