[Class 78 (i)] Discharging means for an endless belt conveyer or for a conveyer comprising an endless series of trays as described in Specification 325,571, [Class 78 (i)], comprises an actuating device which is intermittently connected to be moved by the conveyer during which movement it stores energy, the device being then connected to move a pusher member horizontally across the conveyer, and being automatically disconnected at the end of this movement so that independent means return the pusher member. The pusher member 10 is carried on a rod 11 guided by a head 12 between a pair of horizontal rails 13 extending at right angles to a horizontal portion of the conveyer and is normally retracted by a spring 14. A carriage 15 sliding on the rails 13 is moved by a bell-crank lever 16, pivoted at 17 and biassed by a spring 25 so that one arm 21 lies in the path of projections on the conveyer which each move the bell-crank to extend the spring 25 until the projection moves far enough to release the arm 21. As the bell-crank lever nears the end of its travel with the conveyer a plate 27 sliding in vertical guides 26 on the carriage 15 is raised by a ramp 29 on the retracted pusher head 12 and, as the arm 21 of the bell-crank is released, falls behind a vertical edge on the ramp so that as the bell-crank is returned by the spring 25, the carriage 15 moves the pusher 10 across the conveyer. At the end of this outward stroke laterally projecting arms 28 on the plate 27 engage ramps 30 on the rails 13 to raise the plate and permit the pusher 10 to be returned by the spring 14. The arm 21 has an extension 36 slidable between bent-over ears 37 so that it may be withdrawn from the path of the projections on the conveyer: a pin 38 passing through holes in the extension and the arm normally holds the extension in position.
