Abstract
619,404. Dextrin. NEUMANN, S. Dec. 6, 1946, No. 36215. [Class 121] Dextrin having a water content of less than 10 per cent by weight, is humidified by a floating contact treatment in a current of air and water vapour. The dextrin is fed by a feeder 4 into a stream of air circulating in a closed circuit 1, and steam, preferably superheated, is introduced at a number of points 7 in the circuit. The treated dextrin is removed in a dust separator 5 preferably so arranged that the lighter particles are recirculated. In order to prevent condensation of the steam during the early stages of the process a part of the circuit may be provided with a supplementary heating arrangement 10. An intake 14 for fresh air and an exit I provided with a filter bag 13, controlled by valves 15, 12 respectively may be provided. Specification 546,088, [Group III], is referred to in the Provisional Specification.
