Abstract
619,207. Safes. JASPER, I. Nov. 27, 1946, No. 35170. [Class 44] A burglar-proof safe is divided into two or more compartments by a partition or partitions, the external door covering only 'one compartment, access to the other compartment or compartments being through doors in the partitions normally hidden by sliding panels. A safe for example adapted to be built into a wall recess is divided into three compartments 1, 2, 3, by partitions 4, the external door 5, covering the central compartment only, being hinged to the upper wall. The outer walls 7, 8 of the side compartments are set back from the door 5 and concealed behind the wall. Each partition 4 has a door 9, and concealing the partitions 4 are sliding panels 10 which can be drawn forward when the door 5 is opened. Each panel is locked by means of a projection 15 engaged behind a pair of spring fingers 16 on the partition. Release is effected by means of a key comprising a flat disc with two projecting. pins fitting in apertures in the panel which force the spring fingers back, the apertures being covered by a hood 18. A spring tongue member 19 may be provided in the hood to force the disc members forward to hold the pins in contact with the spring fingers.
