Abstract

618,559. Oil-break switches. DAVIES, D. R., and METROPOLITAN - VICKERS ELECTRICAL CO., Ltd. Nov. 4, 1946, No. 32750. [Class 38 (v)] In a modification of the isolating switches of Specification 492,395, a conductor mounted in a condenser type bushing 14 extends between terminals 9, 10 in an oil tank 8 and is movable vertically to connect or disconnect them. An earthed metal barrier 15 secured to the bushing extends between the terminals in the open position, wherein the bushing is above the oillevel and is visible through a window. The terminal 9 may be earthed by a contact 18 on a plunger 19. The switch is shown as applied to the switchgear structure of Specification 618,558.
