An air break circuit breaker having a puffer 6, linked to its moving contact 3, and an arcchute 1 venting horizontally through its casing 21 is mounted for vertical withdrawal from a pair of shrouded and shuttered plugging isolator contacts 13, 14 and to be horizontally traversible to engage unshrouded earthing contacts 12, 15. Bus-bars 29 and current transformers 35 connected with the contacts 13, 14 respectively are air insulated in chambers 17, 18 which are fan-cooled and vented at 19, 34.
