Abstract

617,833. Insulators. BULLERS, Ltd., and PERRINS, G. Oct. 11, 1946, No. 30364. [Class 36] For the purpose of reducing radio interference an electric insulator is provided with a conductive coating on a portion of its surface in the form of one or more bands extending from one metal electrode to the other, the extent and resistivity of the coating being such as to provide a predetermined potential drop across the surface of the insulator. Bands 17 extending from cap 11 to socket 13 may vary in width along their length to vary the resistance at particular points, and the resistance near the electrodes may be reduced by widening the bands at their extremities. The conducting coating may be provided by ceramic glazes or other materials having the required conductivity. Specification 527,357 is referred to.
