[Class 79 (v)] [Also in Group XXXII] In a motor vehicle of the kind in which the body structure is united with a sheet metal base forming the floor, which takes the place of a separate chassis frame and from which extends forwardly a pair of girders which carry the engine, the brake and clutch pedal levers are journalled in one or the other of the projecting girders and pass through an opening in the toe board, the opening being shut off from the engine compartment by a box-like casing. A floor-plate 1, extending between two side sills (not shown) has its forward part 2 upwardly inclined to form a toe board and has welded to its underside by flanges 5, two forwardly extending girders 3 and 4. A transverse box-section member 12 is attached to the upper part of the toe plate 2 and the two rearwardly sloping plates 10, having their lower ends welded to the girders 3 and 4. Rectangular openings 7 and 8, in the toe board 2, are sealed off from the engine compartment by casings 9 extending between the toe plate 2 and sloping plates 10. A detachable plate 17 has side extensions 17a, which overly the openings 7 and 8 except for parts 7a and 8a, through which may project the clutch and brake pedal levers 14 and 15 journalled on a transverse pivot 16 in the girder 3. Pedal levers 14 and 15 may alternatively be journalled on a similar pivot 16 in the girder 4 and the construction thus provides for the transference of the controls necessary for a change from rightto left-hand drive or vice versa.
